It’s been 20 years, and the little sponge who lives in a pineapple under the sea still resonates with people around the world.
The Nickelodeon cartoon “SpongeBob SquarePants,” created by the late Stephen Hillenburg, features a nasally yellow sea sponge filled with bubbly optimism even in some of the most absurd situations. SpongeBob has become an international phenomenon, and continues to be loved by fans of all ages.
Since its debut on May 1, 1999, the syndicated children’s show SpongeBob SquarePants has become a fixture in pop culture, especially among millennials.
You can do whatever you set your mind to
SpongeBob is always prepared and enthusiastic for any job at the Krusty Krab, even if it means flipping burgers behind the fryer. He chantsto himself, “I’m ready! I’m ready! I’m ready!” when orders start coming in and the job starts to feel overwhelming. SpongeBob never gives up, and he always manages to save the day in the end.
SpongeBob’s not-so-secret secret is that he doesn’t let other people’s doubts discouragement him from what he wants to do. He believes in himself and it shows every time we see him wake up, loud and proud each morning.

Be kind to everyone but not to the point of death
SpongeBob always has the best intentions for those around him, even if he can be a little too eager at times – like when he tries to help an elderly woman across the street a little too quickly. spongeBob’s pure intentions always come from a good place, which is why everyone loves him!
Every day, SpongeBob tries to do something good for someone else – whether it’s being their hero or just helping them out. He knows that if everyone does their part, the world can be a better place for everyone.
You can’t spell ‘fun’ without friends
SpongeBob has a lot of friends in Bikini Bottom, but there’s no doubt that Patrick, the pink starfish, is his best friend. They go on adventures together and have a lot of fun, making memories along the way. They always seem to have a good time, no matter what they’re doing.
And that’s exactly what friends are for – having fun! SpongeBob knows this better than anyone and he even has a whole song dedicated to helping people remember it.
“F is for friends who do stuff together. U is for you and me. N is for anywhere and anytime at all down here in the deep blue sea.”

Own your mistakes, no matter the consequences

SpongeBob knows that people make mistakes – he’s made a few himself. But every time he realizes that he has made a mistake, he fesses up and apologizes. That’s because he knows that admitting his mistakes and taking responsibility for them is the right thing to do.
Our identities shouldn’t be made into jokes
Though SpongeBob has many positive qualities, there are an equal number of things to learn from him about what not to do.
For example, when his stand-up comedy gig begins tanking, SpongeBob lowers himself by making squirrel jokes to get the audience to laugh.

Find positivity in everything you do
Even though his neighbor and co-worker Squidward is a grumpy person, and Plankton is always trying to take down the Krusty Krab, SpongeBob doesn’t
change who he is. He stays positive and his good mood eventually catches on to other people.
